Unreal Engine (Udemy Course)

Today I have started to work within the Unreal Engine to further improve my knowledge of the engine as I have had very little experience with it in the past. I have started to use a Udemy course to help me with this. With that in mind i have gone through the initial few tutorials and thought i put up a couple of pic’s.

UI Demo

This is just a mini project Ive had going were i have combined a bunch of UI scripts from past game-jams & projects then implemented them into a project.

Will very likely keep adding to this project over time.

Current Functionality On This Build Includes, A Score Counter (Increases Over Time), AI Health Bar’s (Decreases Over Time), & A High Score System That Stores Your Top 3 Scores, & Your Score From Your Past Round. A Difficulty Section. Simple Moving AI And A Mini Map With AI Indicator’s.

The Adventurer!

I have recently started to program again and thought a personal project was the right way to go, so I made a simple collection game that I named The Adventurer!, the players object is to go through the 4 sections of the map attempting to find all the diamonds before the time limit hits zero while avoiding enemy AI in each of the sections.

Within each of the 4 sections there a 8 nodes you must collect that will randomly spawn at the beginning of the game when you have collected all of the diamonds in that section you will receive a tick, indicating your completion, then you must simply do the same within all sections for completion of the level.

While this is an incomplete game currently I will continue to add more objectives and modify already existing variables to make this a fun but simple experience for the user.

Asset Packages Im Using:

– A3D Tileable Hand Painted Ground Texture Pack 2

– AxeyWorks Low Poly: Free Pack

– Black Hammer: Fantasy Wooden GUI

The Avalon Air-Show Showcase

These past few weeks my team and I have continued work on our flight manager game that we created for Thales during our internship we were continuing to work on this under the banner of Info Pixel. Under contract we then started to get our game prepped and refined for the Avalon air show.

On showcase day we presented our game at the Thales booth with Thales Australia were we showcased to trade representatives and the public.

Our game Flight Manager is now a single player manager were the player is to move the allocated planes by there altitude & direction to avoid on coming collisions and map threats.

Game Produced

For the past 5 months my group and I (2 Programmers, 2 Artists, 1 Designer) have been producing a flight simulator game for Thales. This game is oriented around what our intended customer wanted which was to give them a game that took their old system ideas and reduced the possible plane clutter by removing there number system & introducing a more visual experience were a controller could use alternate UI features to interact and modify planes in an area.

Our game Flight Manager, is a single player manager were the player is to move the allocated planes by there altitude, speed & direction to avoid on coming collisions and threats.

The programming on this project was a shared effort between me and 1 other programmer of which we produced tools and game features for the simulator.

Over these past few months i have learned a lot from how to deal / adapt to what a business customer wants to improving all my basic team skills / personal skills.

22/10/2016 Physic’s Assessment

On this assignment we were to create 2 physics simulations 1 with PhysX & the other with our own custom code base.

Download Release Build:

Development Platform: Visual Studio (C++)

PhysX Tasks:

  • At least 1 example of static rigid bodies and dynamic rigid bodies correctly interacting with each other
  • At least 1 example of rag doll physics
  • At least 1 example of a trigger volume that interacts with dynamic scene elements
  • At least 1 example of a particle based physics simulation that may include fluid dynamics of soft bodies of 2 or higher dimensions
  • At least 1 example of a player controller physics object

Custom Simulation Tasks:

  • Multiple objects correctly interacting with each other according to Newton’s 3 laws of motion
  • Forces correctly applied to objects
  • Objects correctly colliding with other objects
  • Objects correctly applying forces to other objects
  • At least 1 example of spring physics
